Strategy & Execution
Direction only creates value when the organization can translate it into priorities, ownership and consistent execution.
Cadence & Compass brings experienced financial and operational leadership to organizations navigating growth, complexity and change. We approach the work as operators—focused not just on the recommendation, but on what it takes to make it work.
Our perspective comes from being accountable for the organizations behind the strategy—for performance, people, processes, growth and difficult decisions. That experience shapes how we advise: practical enough to execute, rigorous enough to matter, and grounded in the realities leaders face every day.
Strong organizations connect disciplines that are too often treated separately. Cadence & Compass works at those intersections—where direction becomes execution and insight becomes action.

The numbers and the operating reality should tell the same story. We connect both to create a clearer view of performance.
Analysis should make the next decision clearer—not simply create another presentation. The work should move something forward.
Cadence & Compass is built around senior operating experience and a flexible model that brings the right financial, operational and strategic perspective to each engagement.

Challas Ray is an experienced healthcare executive and operator who has spent his career building, scaling and improving complex service organizations. As an early leader of a rapidly growing population health organization, Challas helped build the company from its formative years into a multi-state enterprise with more than 400 employees and operations across 11 states.
Over more than a decade in senior operational leadership, including serving as Chief Operating Officer, Challas has worked at the intersection of strategy and execution—building scalable operations, improving performance, developing new programs and helping organizations navigate rapid growth and increasing complexity.
He founded Cadence & Compass around a simple belief: good strategy only creates value when an organization can actually execute it. His approach combines strategic perspective with an operator’s understanding of people, process, economics and accountability.
When the work calls for additional perspective, Cadence & Compass collaborates with a select network of experienced executives and subject-matter experts, bringing specialized financial, operational, industry and functional expertise where it adds value.
Make the problem understandable before making the solution elaborate. Clear thinking creates better decisions.
The work has to survive contact with the actual organization. Practical value matters more than presentation theater.
Recommendations should come with a realistic path to execution, clear ownership and an understanding of what happens next.
Whether you’re navigating growth, performance challenges or a pivotal decision, we can help bring clarity to what comes next—and the discipline to move it forward.
